sThe Allen-Bradley 1336-CAP-SP13A capacitor is a part which produces a 3-phase Pulse Width Modulated (PWM) frequency output that can be tweaked to provide a modifiable motor speed. The basic control is made as a constant torque and as an adjustable speed control with a 115% overload capability and it is adaptable through programming to sustain a range of applications. The 1336-CAP-SP13A offers a good output voltage and a good current waveform. However, special attention should be taken when applying an inverter to an existing motor. This part is created for use with variable torque, square law, and cubed law loads. For square law loads, the torque changes directly with the change in speed while the horsepower changes as the square of the speed change. With cubed law loads, the torque changes as the square of the speed change while the horsepower changes as the cube of the speed change.
The 1336-CAP-SP13A is appropriate for direct connection to the correct voltage that is 3-phase and has an AC power line. However, some specific power line conditions might increase the risk of encountering component malfunctions. To reduce the possibility of these malfunctions, a line reactor or isolation type transformer may be required. The basic guidelines for verifying whether a line reactor or isolation type transformer is needed are listed below: If the AC line which supplies the drive is connected to power factor correction capacitors, an AC line reactor or isolation type transformer must be connected between the capacitor bank and the input to the 1336-CAP-SP13A drive. If the AC line regularly gets interruptions of power or substantial voltage spikes, an AC line reactor or isolation type transformer should be used.
