The 1305-BA02A is an Adjustable AC drive which is sometimes also referred to as a Variable Frequency Drive (VFD) or Variable Speed Drive (VSD). The particular part number belong to the product family that is produced by Allen-Bradley for the primary purpose of controlling the speed of an AC motor.
In many applications, discrete control of a motor is not sufficient to maintain an efficient, accurate, cost-effective control. Especially in processes or machines that require high-speed, high-torque or constant torque control. An adjustable frequency AC drive, such as the 1305-BA02A can enable an AC motor previously controlled in discrete mode to have a variable speed, constant Torque output and be used in complex control techniques that require modulating control of devices.
To utilize an adjustable frequency AV drive, it is important to properly size the drive to the motor that that s intended to be used along with the hardware. The 1305-BA02A requires a 3-Phase input voltage with range of 380-460VAC with Frequency range of 50-60Hz. With this electrical requirement provided, the dive is capable of producing an output current of 1.6A along a power output of 0.55kW or 0.75HP and a 3-Phase Voltage output from 0-460VAC. Normally, a VFD is sized 1.5 - 2 times higher than the motor rating in reference to the motor’s Full Load Current (FLA) but never chose a VFD that has lower ratings compare to the motor. Compare the VFD specs with the motor nameplate.
This adjustable frequency drive has a reliable Torque output throughout the designed speed range enabling this drive compatible with most applications, some of these are Fan, Pump, and Chemical Injection processes.
