The Rockwell Automation 20BD248A3AYNADD0 is a motor controller with a user adjustable speed. The controller uses vector control on its Input Output. By having a vector control option, the 20BD248A3AYNADD0, similarly to other PowerFlex 700 drives, allows the linking of parameters. The linking minimizes the programming time since only one value needs to be programmed; if the same value is needed on another parameter a link between the two is established. The successful link must have two vital things: information about the sender or the source parameter, and information about the receiver or the destination parameter. While the 20BD248A3AYNADD0 can accommodate most parameters to form the source, integers used to represent text cannot be used as a source.

Another limitation with linking parameters is that only numbers of the same data type can be used as source and destination. For example, the source of a floating point data type can only be linked to a destination supporting floating point data type. To set up a link on the 20BD248A3AYNADD0, a destination parameter is selected first. The 20BD248A3AYNADD0 is shipped with a Human-Module Interface (HMI) which is comprised of an LCD display and a keypad. In addition, this HMI can be removed even when the drive is in operation.
