The 2090-XB33-32 module is a Bulletin 2090 resistive brake module (RBM). It is designed for use with Allen-Bradley Kinetix motors, specifically the Kinetix 6500, Kinetix 6200, Kinetix 6000, and the Kinetix 2000. The weight and dimensions of the 2090-XB33-32 module are 1.91 kilograms and 238.3 x 70 x 198.6 millimeters, respectively. The rated resistance of the 2090-XB33-32 module is 32 Watts (±10% tolerance). The continuous power rating for the module is 30 Watts. The peak drive current is 33 Amps 0-peak and 23 Amps RMS. The peak energy for the 2090-XB33-32 module is 150 joules. The use of drive commands is the recommended method for bringing the drive system to a controlled stop.
The following conditions apply when RBM resistors are used for stopping motors: the maximum motor inertia ratio is 15:1, there should be 1 minute between braking cycles, and the peak velocity at the start of motor braking and applications must be less than or equal to the rating of brake module. The 2090-XB33-32 module provides a non-mechanical method for braking drive systems. It does this by draining the motor energy through a resistive load that dissipates energy as heat. A contactor in the 2090-XB33-32 module provides electrical and physical separation between the motor leads and drive output. Furthermore, the 2090-XB33-32 module provides status information to a safety circuit that is designed by the users. To increase the efficiency of the stopping process, braking resistors are matched to the motor and the load. As defined in the EN 60529 publication, the 2090-XB33-32 module should be enclosed inside a grounded conductive enclosure.
