The Allen-Bradley/Rockwell Automation 1336E-A007-AA-EN-GM1-HA1-L9E drive is a 1336 IMPACT AC drive. It is supplied with an English instruction manual, it accommodates an input voltage of between 200 Volts AC and 240 Volts AC, and it has an apparent power rating of 5.5 Kilowatts. The 1336E-A007-AA-EN-GM1-HA1-L9 drive, like other drives in the 1336 IMPACT series, uses a brake chopper to dissipate the excess energy when the drive is decelerating. When this braking option is enabled, the bus voltage regulator is disabled and the dynamic brake is used to dissipate the extra regenerated energy.
When the brake chopper/dynamic braking is used on the 1336E-A007-AA-EN-GM1-HA1-L9 drive, the dynamic brake is interfaced to the capacitor side of the DC link choke on the output side. Note that the brake will not be as effective, or even effective at all if it is connected to the converter bridge of the DC link choke that is found on the input side. If there is an overvoltage when a dynamic brake is being used, this indicates that the brake is not the right size. To prevent overvoltages, the regenerative energy can be limited or the brake size can be increased. Limiting the regenerative energy can be done either automatically or manually. The automatic limiting process will include having the bus regulator work together with the dynamic brake. With the 1336E-A007-AA-EN-GM1-HA1-L9E drive, the manual limiting process will involve reducing the regenerative energy. Of the 2 options, the automatic limiting is better since manual limiting would need to be done each time the regenerative energy was affected by speed, system losses, or a load.
