About 1398-SR9P

The Allen-Bradley 1398-SR9P module is a 900 Watts passive shunt module for Allen-Bradley Ultra series drives. Controllers and drives from the Ultra series require external power dissipation when they are connected to large inertial loads. Loads that exceed a drive’s internal shunt capability require external shunt resistors to ensure that faults due to excessive bus voltage are minimized. The 1398-SR9P module can be used with the following drives: the 1398-DDM-075, -075X, and the -150X drives from the Allen-Bradley Ultra 200 series, the 1398-PDM-075 and the 1398-PDM-150B drives from the Allen-Bradley Ultra Plus series, the 2098-DSD-075, -075-SE, -075-DN, -075X, -075X-DN, -150, -150-SE, -150-DN, -150X, and the -150X-DN drives from the Allen-Bradley Ultra 3000 series, and the 2098-IPD-075, -075-DN, -150, and the -150-DN from the Allen-Bradley Ultra 5000 series. The use of the 1398-SR9P module with drives that are not listed above can cause personal injury or equipment damage.

Over time, the 1398-SR9P module can release a large amount of heat. Therefore, equipment above the shunt or its enclosure should use metal plates to protect against deterioration. Failure to observe this precaution could lead to fires in extreme cases. Because the module releases a large amount of heat, adequate ventilation should be provided around the 1398-SR9P module to ensure that the 50 degrees Celsius peak ambient temperature rating is not exceeded. The continuous and peak power ratings for the 1398-SR9P module are 900 Watts and 10 kilowatts, respectively. The module comes with a Bussmann FWP10A14F fuse rated at 10 Amps and 700 Volts DC. The weight of the module is 3.31 kilograms. The module resistance is 18 Ohms (±10%). The ambient operating temperature range is from 0 to 50 degrees Celsius. Approximately 6.1 inches of clearance should be provided on all sides of the module for air flow.
