The 1336-CAP-SP12A is a capacitor assembly that belongs to the 1336 series of frequency drives; it is designed and manufactured by Allen-Bradley. This capacitor has been designed to be used with adjustable frequency AC drives. The main function of a capacitor assembly is to store potential energy into an electrical field. Capacitors are widely known as a type of condenser, they work adding capacitance to a circuit. The main use of the 1336-CAP-SP12A capacitor within the drive is for power storage; more basically, it impedes direct current while it allows alternating current to pass. This is done to preserve the current quality of the drive and to avoid having peaks and high or low voltages when operating. The Allen-Bradley 1336-CAP-SP12A capacitor assembly has an operating voltage of 230 Volts AC and a Horsepower rating of 75 to 100 Hp. It can work with an adjustable frequency AC drive from the 1336 series, including plus, force, and impact versions as long as their voltage input and specifications are compatible.
The 1336-CAP-SP12A capacitor assembly is a very fragile part that must be treated accordingly and installed only by an expert to ensure a proper functioning. When replacing, the previous bus capacitors should be discharged to avoid electrical shock. This assembly contains one bus capacitor and the exact number of capacitors required might vary depending on the drive model. The 1336-CAP-SP12A capacitor assembly has the standard Allen-Bradley specifications when it comes to environmental conditions.
