sAbout 1336-BD-SP9A
The 1336-BD-SP9A is a diode replacement kit for the 1336 series adjustable frequency drive manufactured by Allen Bradley. The recommended operating temperature for the 1336-BD-SP9A is between 0 and 50 degrees Celsius; this module should also be stored at a temperature between -40 and 70 degrees Celsius. The relative humidity of this module’s atmosphere should be between 5 and 95%, non-condensing. The 1336-BD-SP9A is UL and CSA compliant and is marked for various directives, such as Emissions, immunity, and Low voltage. The 1336-BD-SP9A is used to replace any of the converter diodes in the converter bay of a pre-existing 1336 PLUS or IMAPACT model. This replacement kit contains a converter diode, as well as its installation instructions. The user will have to arrange the thermal compound that is required for the mounting of the new replacement diode. The converter diodes can be found in the multi-pulse bridge heat sink assembly in the converter bay of the drive, although the location of the diode may be different, based on the model of the drive.
To replace the diode, first ensure that the power supply to the system is turned OFF. Then, remove the positive and the negative bus bars, which are connected at the top of the bus bars. Then remove both the bus bars connected to the diode, by removing the screws at both the mounting points on the diode. Remove the AK input terminal from the diode and make sure to tag the leads. Next, remove the mounting screws, and then remove the old heat transfer compound from the heat sink with a cloth and clean the surface of the heat sink to remove any oxidation. Apply a thin layer of the thermal compound onto the new diode and then position the screws to mount the diode. Tighten the screws and make the connections between the bus bar power and diode terminals. Verify that the installation has been completed correctly before turning on the power to the system.
