sAbout 1336-140550
The Allen-Bradley 1336-140550 is a Bus Capacitor Kit for 1336 series AC drives. It can be used with 75 to 200 Horsepower rated 1336 series drives manufactured by Allen-Bradley. This includes adjustable frequency AC drives with rating codes from B075 to B150, from B200 to B250, and from C075 to C200. The 1336-140550 can withstand temperatures of up to 60 degrees Celsius (140 degrees Fahrenheit) in the operating state. These capacitors are installed on the drives in 3, 4, or 5 pairs, and the number depends on what the drive’s power rating is. They are the main DC voltage storage on the drive. Users will locate the 1336-140550’s capacitors in the lower left corner of the main chassis. Please note that it is not necessary to remove the base driver mounting plate to get to the capacitors because there are only protective plastic guards on top of them. These elements are major assembly spare part components and they can easily be spotted in the drive’s housing.
These elements remain charged for a long time after the drive is disconnected from the power source, so do not change these powerful elements right after the device is powered off. Wait for at least 10 minutes and then measure the DC voltage across them to be sure that they are powered down completed before conducting any maintenance work. These elements are usually changed when the drive is giving the “Bus Charging - Precharge of DC bus capacitors is in progress” alarm message. To establish whether the 1336-140550’s capacitors need to be changed, check the voltage levels across them. Compare these voltages, because they must be nearly equal. If they are not, then replace capacitors and replace the balancing resistors too.
